Stephanie Sorensen

Middle School Humanities

The joy of life is the joy of learning, and Stephanie Sorensen brings that infectious enthusiasm into the classroom. Her natural curiosity and sense of wonder infuse every aspect of her teaching, inspiring scholars to authentically question and explore the world around them.

Stephanie’s journey in classical education began at Idaho Leadership Academy—or perhaps even earlier, while reading The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle on long bus rides to 5th grade! After graduating high school, she spent what would have been her senior year volunteering in China, where she taught English and worked as a secretary for the China Charity Federation. Stephanie later graduated as valedictorian from George Wythe College, a classic books school, earning a BA in Statesmanship.

Her teaching experience includes mentoring at Williamsburg Academy, where she taught core subjects and creative writing for middle and high school students. She eventually married her husband, Nicolas, and together they settled in Provo, Utah, where they embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by opening a wellness center offering therapeutic private sessions. In addition to her professional pursuits, Stephanie has earned a 1,000-hour Certified Yoga Practitioner credential and is also a doula, writer, and singer. She and Nicolas are the proud parents of four children.

Stephanie draws inspiration from a wide range of authors, poets, and spiritual teachers, including Chaim Potok, Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, C.S. Lewis, Annie Dillard, Wendell Berry, Barbara Kingsolver, Virginia Woolf, Pema Chödrön, Paramahansa Yogananda, Thich Nhat Hanh, William Shakespeare, Kahlil Gibran, and many others.
