Who can apply to JAA Online Private?
JAA-Online Private School is available to scholars from kindergarten through 12th grade globally, with the exception of those residing in the following California counties: Alpine, Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Sacramento, Sutter, and Yuba.
When can we apply for JAA Online Private?
The Academy is currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year.
Do JAA Online Private scholars need to meet the California immunization requirements for enrollment?
JAA Online Private is a fully online independent study program, and therefore, scholars enrolled are not required to meet California immunization requirements.

Does JAA Online Private accept scholars from outside of California and international scholars?
Yes. JAA Online Private accepts scholars outside of California and non-U.S. scholars. As an online private school, scholars can attend from their home country. We do not require attendance in person. JAA Online Private is not involved in scholar visa arrangements.
What is the necessary technology?
Families are responsible for supplying their own laptop and high-speed internet access. Depending on the scholar’s learning environment, we also recommend using headphones for optimal focus and engagement.
Does JAA Online Private accept homeschooled scholars?
Yes, JAA Online Private warmly welcomes homeschooled scholars. We are committed to placing your scholar in classes that align with their age and learning level, all from the comfort and safety of your home. With exceptional mentors, a rich curriculum, and opportunities to connect with peers, your scholar can thrive academically while you enjoy the flexibility of at-home learning.
Do all application documents need to be in English?
Yes. Any transcripts or documents for scholars who have attended international schools must be translated into English by a third party prior to application submission. Our courses are taught in American English and we do not offer translation services.
Does your school offer a GED program?
No. JAA Online Private is not a diploma completion program, nor is it a school for adult learners. After completing the required credits you will receive an accredited High School Diploma you may use around the world.
What tuition assistance programs does JAA Online Private offer?
JAA Online Private is in the process of registering as a ClassWallet vendor. To learn about eligibility or begin the application process, please reach out to your state’s ESA program or contact ClassWallet for assistance in connecting with the appropriate program contact.
Do you offer financial aid for international scholars?
No, our tuition and fees are designed to remain competitive both within the United States and globally. They reflect the value of our live private online experience, as well as the exceptional quality of educational instruction and curriculum we provide.

Does JAA Online Private require state testing?
No, as a private school, we are not required to administer state standardized tests. However, we encourage scholars to take the ACT or SAT as part of their preparation for college admissions. Our dedicated counselors will work closely with scholars to ensure they are well-prepared and complete this process successfully.
Does JAA Online Private facilitate learning assessments?
There are no required state diagnostic or learning assessment tests; however, we have assessments embedded in the curriculum to monitor scholars' progress and ensure they are mastering key concepts. These assessments help mentors tailor instruction to meet each scholar's individual learning needs and support their academic growth effectively.
Do online scholars receive 1:1 mentor support?
Scholars can schedule one-on-one support with their teachers during designated Office Hours.
Are all our educators credentialed?
John Adams Academy employs highly qualified teachers for all subjects. Our educators may hold state teaching credentials, possess advanced degrees, have significant expertise in their field, or bring years of successful teaching or professional experience. Each teacher is carefully selected to serve as a trusted mentor, upholding the high standards of John Adams Academy.
Is JAA Online Private a homeschool option and what does that mean?
Yes, JAA Online Private is considered a homeschool option in addition to being a successful American Classical Leadership Education college prep school. Homeschooling is an educational method where parents or guardians take primary responsibility for their child's education, providing instruction at home rather than sending them to a traditional brick-and-mortar school. At JAA Online Private, parents or guardians partner with our educators to help guide their child’s learning providing a structured curriculum, support, and resources to ensure a well-rounded classical education. This partnership allows families the flexibility of homeschooling with the added benefit of professional educational guidance, well vetted curriculum choices, and live classes with peers.
How can I best support my scholar?
To support your scholar, JAA Online Private recommends parents establish a structured routine, create a dedicated learning space, and familiarize themselves with the online learning platform. When you actively monitor your scholar progress, maintain regular communication with mentor, and ensure your child has the necessary technology skills your child will thrive! Additionally, providing emotional support and guidance throughout the learning process, while promptly addressing any challenges or questions, is crucial for a successful JAA Online Private experience.
Does JAA Online Private offer AP courses?
We do not offer designated AP courses. However, our curriculum is highly rigorous, and scholars interested in earning AP credit are encouraged to take the AP exams. Our counselors will provide guidance and support throughout this process.
Does JAA Online Private offer a summer academic term?
Not at this time.
Can scholars in grades 7-8 take high school courses?
Some scholars are advanced in math, and in such cases, we will administer assessments to ensure they are placed in the appropriate course that matches their learning level. This approach helps them stay challenged and continue progressing at a pace suited to their abilities while maintaining a strong foundation in the subject.
How do grade levels work at JAA Online Private?
Scholars' grade levels are set by their graduation year, regardless of which courses they are taking.
How are lab experiments facilitated?
Scholars complete labs at home using commonly available materials or lab kits sent to scholars' homes. High School course labs are designed to meet the requirements of college entrance.

Do scholars need to wear the John Adams Academy uniform?
Yes. Scholars are expected to wear their uniform polo for all LIVE interaction including classes and video recordings.
How much time does my scholar spend each day doing online instruction and independent work?
Scholars will average between 1-2 hours per week in LIVE class per course depending upon grade level. The rest of the section is fine.
How are special education and accommodations handled?

Is your online program accredited outside of California?
Accreditation cannot be granted until scholars are enrolled in the program. Once our program opens in the fall of 2025 we will pursue accreditation through Cognia. All brick and mortar John Adams Academies are accredited through Cognia.
